"It takes time to build trust with a patient, and I do my best to make sure they feel comfortable no matter what.”
Dr. Espila has been practicing medicine for over a decade. As a young child, she was fascinated by science and the human body. “I wanted a career that would positively influence people’s lives. I was 12 when I came home and told my parents, ‘I have to be a doctor.’ Since that time I have never doubted my decision.” Getting to know her patients on a personal level is important to Dr. Espila. “Many of their illnesses come not from the body, but from the soul- their personal circumstances, social problems, etc. I like to know where they come from and their background to deliver the care they need. It takes time to build trust with a patient, and I do my best to make sure they feel comfortable no matter what.” Dr. Espila enjoys practicing in Reliant’s team care environment, and working closely with Marie Briasco, NP, her partnering provider.
In her spare time, Dr. Espila enjoys travelling to Spain to visit family. “I need to go back where I come from to keep true to who I am. I grew up with amazing cooks, and I love, love, love, to cook- especially Spanish dishes.” In addition she also enjoys hiking, snorkeling, running- anything that keeps her and her family active. Dr. Espila also likes to relax as well, “I have a big passion for movies and books and I own so many I’m not sure where else to place them! Good thing I have a tablet now, it’s full of books that take no space so I can carry them everywhere in my purse.”
